Application and Program Requirements:

We have made it even easier for you! Graduating high school seniors across Staten Island schools are invited to APPLY ONCE with our online application and be considered for one or more of the Staten Island ACHIEVE Dollars for Scholars awards (based on the eligibility criteria stated in the award summaries). You may also become eligible for other awards granted by Scholarship America-affiliated organizations by completing your online profile.

Note: All of the required fields must be completed for you to be considered for an award from Staten Island ACHIEVE or any other Scholarship America affiliated organization.

In order to be considered for Staten Island ACHIEVE awards, you must upload or include the following information as part of your online profile:

  1. Academics: Official High School transcript and standardized test scores
  2. Extracurricular: School activities, work experience, and community service. Please include a specific description of the activity (e.g. Student Council, Varsity Basketball, Math Club), the number of hours per week, the length of service, your role (e.g., President, Captain, Lead Actor), and any special awards or honors.
  3. Character: Letter(s) of Recommendation (maximum of 2)
  4. Financial Need: Completion of the expected family contribution (EFC) section of the profile, as well as Student Aid Report (SAR), Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and any award letter(s) from any colleges/universities you expect to attend (if available). If you are still undecided, please provide award letters from colleges/universities that have accepted you. For more details on filing the FAFSA, please see this guide.
  5. Essay(s) (~300 words): In your first, required essay, please describe how your commitment to excellence helped meet challenges and achieve success. You can provide details about your future goals and how the skills you developed will help you meet them. If you are a student-athlete, you may wish to include these experiences. There is a second essay that is focused on those who have achieved success while overcoming significant personal obstacles. Please make us aware of your experience in this essay as we have a category of awards specifically focused on this.

Please be advised that renewable awards may be subject to on-going academic achievement requirements, such as the maintenance of a cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 or higher and ongoing financial need. Such requirements will be specified by us following the receipt of an award.
